Employee Investment is Key

Nothing great can be achieved without a great team effort.   This principle is a pillar of CSV Construction's Human Resource Management.

Since its inception in 1994, the Company has recruited the majority of its workforce from Stellenbosch and the Helderberg region - where today about 60% of its employees live.  Essentially a Helderberg contractor since the start, the Company has transported its people to wherever they are needed.

As the Company has grown, taking on increasingly complex projects, so it needed to invest in its workforce.  CSV Construction has an in-house programme to assist employees to progress to the next level.  Training facilities at its Head Office near Firgrove, just outside Somerset West, provide for this need, while additional training is supplied by Boland College in Paarl, ACS (Academy for Construction Skills) and other accredited training institutions.  It is a management principle that internal relationships and those with clients and service providers are based on healthy, gradual growth.

CSV also prides itself on a hands-on approach- the crux of CSV Construction at all levels.  As a result, there is a fundamental belief in attracting good people to create a powerful team to ensure the enterprise remains a major player in the civil and construction industry.

The Company, regarded as as one of the largest employers in the Helderberg, also boasts a low employee turnover - another reason for its 20 years of business success.

A Healthy Balance is Essential to Success

A good balance between hard work, health and team spirit is important to CSV Construction.  Employees participate in a variety of sports  in their spare time, amongst others Soccer, Cricket and Cycling.

CSV Soccer Teams

Employees have created a number of soccer teams over the years, most often named after the communities in which their sites are based.

These teams have weekly practice sessions and regular games are arranged with other local soccer clubs.  CSV sponsors clothing and where possible assists in setting up the soccer fields.

2014 saw one of the largest soccer teams formed in Kakamas in the Northern Cape.  This team played many Monday night games and had a loyal and supportive fan base.

It is hoped that this tradition of forming soccer teams will continue for many years to come.

CSV Challengers

The CSV Challengers are the winners of the Radloff Park T20 Business League for 2015.  The Team managed to score a total of 214/ 7 off 20 overs in their final match against the reigning champions.

The Challengers have taken part in the event for the past 3 years and made it to the semi-finals in previous seasons.

Cycle Teams

In an attempt to promote sport within the company and to bring about a healthy balance between work and play, the CSV road and mountain biking team was established by Alex Pospech, Johan Koegelenberg, Leonard and Wayne Oosthuizen in 2010.

The Cape Argus Road and MTB, Porcupine MTB, Die Burger Road and MTB, Bastille MTB and Absa Cape Epic events are but a few of the races the team competes in.

The team, as well as other staff members, are also keen participants of the Helderberg Hospice Cycle Charity Event.

Currently, the CSV Cycling team has 8 members and will expand as fitness levels grow.  The events have created a team spirit among the members, as well as the supporting team consisting of other staff.

It is believed that this sport will grow with the company and will lead to the enhanced balance of the "social" side of CSV Construction Pty Ltd.
